01About us
A Rwandan company, planning Rwandan trips
Horizon Trek Africa arranges gorilla treks, safaris and tailor-made journeys across Rwanda, from an office in Kigali.

02What we do
Rwanda is a small country that rewards being organised. Permits are limited and sell out. The distances look short and the roads are mountain roads. The difference between a good trip and a frustrating one is almost always sequencing.
That is the work: securing the permits first, putting the parks in an order that does not waste days in the car, matching lodges to what you actually want to spend, and having someone on the ground when a plan needs changing.
Everything on this site — every destination, experience and itinerary — is published in full so you can judge the thinking before you contact us.
03How we work
- 01
We are based here
Trips are planned from Kigali, not from an office in another country reselling someone else's product. That is the difference between knowing the road is closed and finding out on the day.
- 02
Itineraries are built, not picked
The routes on this site are starting points. Almost every trip we run ends up different from the version it started as, because the traveller told us what they actually wanted.
- 03
We will tell you what does not work
If your dates make a permit unlikely, or ten days is not enough for what you have listed, we will say so before you book rather than after.
- 04
Guides who are worth having
A guide who knows where the lions were yesterday, holds position for the light, and can read a forest, changes the whole trip.
04Responsible travel
Tourism is why the animals are still here
Park fees are conservation funding
Permit and entry revenue funds the ranger teams and the reintroduction programmes that brought lions and rhinos back to Akagera. It is the reason the wildlife is there to see.
Hire the porter
Porters on the gorilla trek are drawn from surrounding communities, some of them former poachers. The fee is small, the help is real, and the money lands directly.
Community visits on their terms
We work with cooperatives that choose to host visitors and are paid directly, rather than staging something for a bus.
Ask before photographing people
Every time. It is the simplest courtesy and the one most often skipped.
05The team
Our guides and planning team are based in Kigali and across the country. Full profiles are being added here.
This section is intentionally short. We would rather say nothing than publish invented biographies, and it will be filled in with the real team.

No obligation and no sales sequence. Ask a question, or send us the outline of a trip and see what comes back.
